FSA announces arrest of three men in investigation into suspected insider dealing – On 29 January 2010, the FSA published a press release announcing that three men were arrested on 28 January 2010 in connection with an FSA investigation into suspected insider dealing. According to the press release, search warrants were executed at four addresses in London as part of an operation that the FSA is jointly carrying out with the City of London Police Economic Crime Directorate (City of London Police). The three men were interviewed under caution and released on police bail. The press release states that no further details can be confirmed at this time and the investigation is continuing.
This is the fourth set of arrests carried out by the FSA and the City of London Police relating to insider dealing since 2008.
The FSA has secured four sentences of imprisonment (one suspended) in relation to insider dealing relating to Christopher McQuoid and James William Melbourne and Matthew and Neel Uberoi. Confiscation and costs of £150,000 were ordered in the case of McQuoid and Merbourne, and will be determined in the Uberoi case on 1 March 2010.
The FSA is currently prosecuting the following insider dealing criminal cases:
1. Malcolm Calvert. This case is set for trial on 15 February 2010.
2. Neil Rollins. This case is set for trial on 12 April 2010.
3. Peter Andrew King, Andrew Rimminton and Michael McFall. This case is set for trial on 19 April 2010.
