On 29 April 2010, the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) published issue 85 of Ombudsman News.
Items of interest in issue 85 include:
- Case studies on banking, insurance and investment complaints from consumers living in rural communities.
- Q&A on the FOS’s new standard forms for payment protection insurance (PPI) complaints which were published in March 2010 (for more information, see Legal update, FOS publishes standard documentation to improve PPI complaints process).
- Q&A on the FOS’s time-frame for responses to its enquiries. The FOS now asks both businesses and consumers to respond within 14 days. Where it asks for new or more unusual information, more time may be given.
The FOS expects to publish its annual review, covering the year 2009/10, in May 2010.
