The Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) has published the latest edition of “ombudsman news” (Issue 135), which focuses on:
- case studies relating to scammers posing as legitimate, regulated businesses and responses to consumer complaints by banks and insurers;
- fraud and scams in the UK,
- highlighting that financial fraud losses totalled £755 million in 2015 (an increase of 25 percent from 2014) and
- that the FCA is targeting those most at risk of fraud as part of its ScamSmart campaign by stressing the importance of rejecting unsolicited calls, checking the FCA warning list and getting impartial advice before investing; and
- questions and answers relating to registering a power of attorney with a bank and problems that young people face in connection with finances.
