The Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) has published a feedback statement on its consultation that proposed to amend the rules in its voluntary jurisdiction (VJ) in line with rule changes proposed by the FCA to its compulsory jurisdiction set out in the Dispute Resolution: Complaints (DISP) rules regarding the signposting of customers to the availability of complaints information by not-for-profit debt advice agencies.
The FOS states that the responses to the FCA’s consultation were uniformly supportive. Given that the FCA proposed to amend DISP 1.2.2.R, the FOS considered it appropriate to make the same change for its VJ.
The FOS passed the instrument implementing the amendment on 23 September 2015 and the FCA consented to and approved the rule changes on 24 September 2015.
