THE KEY POINTS RELATING TO C.I. ARE AS FOLLOWS
EU Adequacy:
- only 9 territories comply so far, and
- it can take over three (3) years to gain compliance:
USA DOES NOT COMPLY.
Third Countries:
- The EU States cannot cooperate with third-countries that do not comply with Adequacy.
The above helps in understanding why Emma Martins is banging the drum so hard
- both Jersey & Guernsey are scheduled for Adequacy compliance review (of the regulator and via – public bodies, commercial entities & other organisations, includes schools, charities, churches, etc.) before 2020.
A crucial point that comes from all the GDPR reading, and the link below, is that cyber/data security is no different from ‘real life’, i.e. Would you …
- let your children play with a complete stranger (adult)?
- give your house keys to a complete stranger?
- give your wallet, with pin numbers, to a complete stranger?
- tell your most intimate life details to a stranger and/or reporter?
Yet people do all these things online every day!!!!
Therefore GDPR protects us from ourselves, because we have become extremely stupid.
