- On the morning of Tuesday April 29, the EU added 15 additional individuals to the list of persons designated under the EU sanctions relating to Ukraine.
- These include several Russian government ministers and officials (such as the Russian Deputy Prime Minister, Dmitry Kozak, and the Minister for Crimean Affairs, Oleg Savelyev) who were listed because they are said to be responsible for the integration of the annexed Autonomous Republic of Crimea into the Russian Federation or otherwise involved in its government.
- Other individuals named on the list include certain members of the Russian Main Intelligence Directorate (GRU) of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation and leaders of separatist groups operating in Eastern Ukraine, who are said to have been involved in the seizure and occupation of state buildings or other incidents in Eastern Ukraine.
– The list also includes the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, Valery Gerasimov, who is said to be responsible for the deployment of Russian troops along the border with Ukraine.
